No Credentials â A. Putellas x Reader
"Everyone Wants a Piece"

WC: 1.7k
Summary: YouÂŽre the one the team turns to when the cracks start showing, AlexiaÂŽs not quite sure how she feels about that.
It starts small, barely anything. A loose touch. A pass thatâs just off. A look she gives herself, like sheâs already grading every move.
You see it like always.
Patriâs moving like someone who doesnât trust her own body yet. Coming back from injury will do that to a person. Every sprint and every turn feels like sheâs bracing for something to go wrong. And itâs not that anyoneâs said anything. Nobodyâs riding her. But thatâs the problem, sheâs filling in the silence with her own panic.
Another mistake. She curses under her breath, but itâs the sharp kind. Like sheâs angry at herself for not being perfect yet. Then someone shouts too loudly. Maybe Pere, maybe another coach. It wasn't even meant for her, but thatâs all it takes.
She rips off her bib, mutters âIâm fine,â and walks off the pitch, fast.
You donât even think at this point, you just move.
Matcha: sacrificed to the grass. Hoodie: pulled over your shoulder. Steps: automatic.
You catch the stare on your back before you reach the tunnel. Alexia with her arms folded, watching you go. You donât turn around.
You find her exactly where you knew sheâd be, on the far end of the bench, hunched over, elbows on knees, head down.
She doesnât flinch when you sit next to her, but she doesnât look up either.
âIâm such a joke,â she mutters after a beat.
You keep your voice low. Calm. âYouâre not.â
âI canât even string together two passes. Iâm a fucking liability out there.â
You glance at her. âYouâre recovering.â
She lets out a humorless laugh. âEveryone keeps saying that like it makes it okay.â
âIt is okay.â
Patri shakes her head. âNot here itâs not. Not at this club. You know how it is. You fall behind, and thereâs already someone faster, sharper, ready to take your spot. They donât mean to, but they do.â
You let the words settle. Let her say it, even if none of itâs true.
âNobodyâs replacing you,â you say softly. âYouâre still part of this team.â
âYeah, until Iâm not.â
You nudge your hoodie sleeve into her hand. She doesnât take it, but she holds onto the edge.Â
âYouâre putting pressure on yourself no one else is asking for.â
âThatâs easy for you to say. Youâre not the one trying to prove youâre still worth it.â
You donât argue. Instead: âIâve seen what you look like when youâre confident. Youâll get back there. But rushing isn't strength, itâs just well disguised panic.â
She exhales, shaky. âI just want to feel like myself again.â
âYou will.â
âI donât know how to believe that.â
You bump your shoulder gently into hers. âThen believe me until you can.â
Finally, she leans her head against your arm. Quiet. Not okay, but not spiraling either.
You stay there with her. No rush. No big speech. Just a quiet presence.
You return alone. Hoodie on. Empty hands.
No one says anything. Patriâs still inside. You told her to take her time.
As you sit back down, you feel it again, Alexiaâs eyes tracking you from across the pitch. She doesnât say anything either.
But her jawâs clenched and her stareâs sharp.
You meet her eyes, just for a second.
She doesnât look away.
You donât either.
It starts with a joke.
Mapi says something sharp, a little too loud, a little too Mapi. Maybe on a different day, Ingrid wouldâve laughed it off. But today isnât that day.
Youâre standing by the espresso machine when you hear it. Something about tactics, or being too passive, or not pulling weight in the last match. You turn your head just in time to catch Ingridâs face go still. Like sheâs been slapped in the chest but doesnât want to give anyone the satisfaction of reacting.
A few beats of silence follow. Then Ingrid snaps back.
Itâs not even yelling. Itâs that tight, cutting tone people save for when theyâre really hurt. âIf youâre going to throw teammates under the bus, at least do it to their face next time.â
Everyone freezes. Mapi opens her mouth, ready to throw more gasoline on the fire, but you move first.
âIngrid,â you say gently, already stepping between them.
âCome on.â
She doesnât look at you right away. Her eyes are locked on Mapiâs, jaw tight. But when you say her name again, quieter this time, she shifts. Walks out of the room fast, hands shaking.
You donât hesitate. You follow her.
Alexia watches. Fork in hand, food untouched. Her eyes narrow as she tracks your exit, and her knee starts bouncing under the table.
You find Ingrid slumped on the bottom step, elbows on her knees, face in her hands. She doesnât look up as you sit beside her.
âI hate when she does that,â she says, voice muffled.
âAlways making a joke out of it when itâs not funny. Like my minutes donât mean anything.â
âShe shouldnât have said that. Youâre allowed to be upset.â
She lets out a short, bitter laugh. âShe thinks Iâm weak.â
âSheâs loud. That doesnât make her right.â
Ingrid lifts her head, and her eyes are glassy. âItâs not just about today. Itâs everything. I work my ass off, but I always feel like I have to prove I belong here.â
You nod slowly. You get it.
âItâs exhausting,â she adds.
âPretending Iâm fine just so I donât get called too sensitive.â
âYou donât have to pretend with me.â
She swallows hard, presses the back of her hand against her eyes.
âWhy are you always the one who notices?â
âBecause Iâve been the one hiding before.â
She doesnât speak, but her breathing evens out.
After a while, you say, âYouâre not weak, Ingrid. Youâre human. Thatâs allowed, even here.â
She lets out a slow breath. âThanks.â
You smile softly. âAlways.
You return to your seat, now with a second coffee in hand. One for you, one you dropped off with Ingrid before she went to cool down.
The tableâs still buzzing with leftover tension and awkward silence.
No one knows what to say.
Except Alexia, who doesnât say a word, but gives you a look.
You catch it. Itâs not subtle. It says something like:
Oh. So youâre everyoneâs emotional support now?
You raise a brow like, What?
She looks away.
But her jawâs tight. Again. And her grip on her fork looks like sheâs trying not to stab something with it.
You sip your coffee and donât say a word.
But you feel the shift.
Youâre sitting cross-legged in the grass, a resistance band looped loosely around your wrist, surrounded by the usual suspects. Cooldown was supposed to be five minutes. Itâs been twenty.
Onaâs lying on her back, arm flung over her eyes.
âI just⊠I donât know,â she says softly. âI miss her.â
You nod. No surprise there, Lucyâs still in London. Long-distance is a bitch when your life revolves around overlapping game schedules and flights that never line up.
âShe sent me a selfie yesterday. I almost cried.â
You offer her a water bottle and a squeeze of her shoulder.
âAlmost?â
She groans. âOkay. I cried. Shut up.â
Aitana chuckles from beside her. âShe cried in the locker room. I found her sniffing and cuddling LucyÂŽs England jersey.â
Ona flings a foot at her. âTraitor.â
âIâm just giving context!â
You grin, adjusting the angle of the massage ball under Aitanaâs calf as she winces and tries not to kick you in the face.
âThis knot is a mess, by the way. How longâs it been hurting?â
âTwo weeks,â Aitana mutters. âBut I didnât want to say anything.â
You raise your eyebrows. âOf course you didnât.â
Patri snorts from behind you.
This is comfortable. Theyâre flopped in a half-circle around you like cats in a sunbeam, trading stories about their partners, weird dreams and that one terrifying drill with balls from this morning. Aitana shifts closer and drapes her arm across your knee like itâs second nature.
You start gently pressing into the knot in her calf, and she winces again, but lets you.
âBreathe through it,â you murmur.
âIâll ease up in a second.â
Itâs routine. Thoughtful. The kind of touch thatâs all professional but feels personal when itâs you.
And someone notices.
Across the grass, Alexia is sitting on a bench, sipping protein water like itâs poison. Mapiâs beside her, scrolling through something on her phone.
âWhy is she touching her like that?!â Alexia growls.
âSheâs literally just helping with cooldown,â Mapi says, not even looking up.
âItâs her job.â
âSheâs caressing her.â
âSheâs massaging a muscle knot.â Mapi sighs.
âSheâs smiling at her.â
âDo you hear yourself?â Mapi finally looks up.
Alexia doesnât answer. Just keeps watching.
You lean in closer, saying something that makes Aitana snort, then ease her head back with a groan. Ona curls up closer to the group, resting her head on Patriâs thigh.Â
Alexia frowns into her water bottle like it said something rude.
âShe used to only laugh with me like that.â
Mapi snorts. âMaybe because youâre not talking to her.â
âI am talking to her.â
âYou told her âgood sessionâ and walked away.â
âThatâs talking!â
Mapi gives her a look. âWow. No wonder sheâs hanging out with literally everyone else.â
Alexia mutters something in Catalan under her breath and looks away.
âOkay,â you say eventually. âCooldownâs over. Go hydrate or Iâm telling Pere youâve been lounging.â
No one moves.
You sigh. âShoo.â
More blinking. Zero movement.
Ona sits up instead. âCoffee?â
âYes,â Aitana says immediately. âThat new place by the plaza?â
You hesitate. âI have stuff to-â
âYou have us,â Patri interrupts. âVenga. One hour.â
Theyâre already getting up like youâve agreed.
You donât fight it.
You grab your hoodie, sling your bag over one shoulder, and follow your little trail of ducklings across the grass. As you round the corner by the exit gate, you spot Alexia and Mapi, sitting on a bench. Alexiaâs leaning forward, elbows on her knees. She straightens when she sees you.
You hesitate for half a second, then smile.
âCoffee?â you ask, a hopeful tilt to your voice.
âWeâre heading out now.â
Mapi glances at Alexia.
Alexia stands too fast. âNo, sorry. I have plans.â
Your smile falters. Just slightly. You nod.
âAlright. Another time.â
She says nothing.
You keep walking.
The girls are chatting ahead of you already, making plans about pastries and whose turn it is to pay. You tuck your hands into your hoodie and catch Mapi glancing back.
Once Alexia sits again, Mapi smacks her lightly on the arm.
âYouâre fucking stupid.â
Alexia doesnât argue with that.

! ! sweetheart!matt slow dancing with barista!reader while she closes up the cafe . . .
the rain is coming down hard, making everything outside blur into a wash of gray. youâre wiping down the counter, your movements automatic, eyes drifting to the window where the storm rages. the usual morning rush has passed, leaving the cafĂ© almost empty. the quiet feels nice, almost peaceful. the door chimes, and you glance up to see him standing there, soaked through, his hair sticking to his forehead, his jacket dripping with rain. matt. you canât help but laugh, amused by how he looks like a drowned puppy. âyouâre insane,â you tease, a smile tugging at your lips.
âcouldnât let you close up without me,â he says with that grin of his, and you feel your heart skip a beat. heâs perfect. he moves toward the counter, dripping puddles on the floor as he goes. âyou couldâve waited in the car,â you say, grabbing a towel to hand him. âwhereâs the fun in that?â he shrugs, taking the towel and drying his hair. âi wanted to be with you. besides, i love the rain.â you smile, your chest tightening just a little. youâve always loved how he makes everything feel a little more magical. the rain, the quietâhe turns it all into something special. âwant a coffee?â you ask, cleaning off the espresso machine, your eyes glancing up to meet his.
âactually,â he says, stepping closer, âi was thinking⊠something warmer.â you raise an eyebrow. âsomething like what?â he leans in, brushing his fingers against yours, his gaze soft. âhow about a slow dance?â you blink, surprised. âhere? now? in the middle of a storm?â
âwhy not?â he smiles. âno oneâs here. just you, me, and the rain.â before you can even answer, he holds out his hand. you hesitate for a second, then place your hand in his, feeling the warmth of his touch. he pulls you gently into his arms, and you both sway to a song that only the two of you can hear. it feels like time slows down, like the world outside has forgotten to keep moving. itâs just you and him, lost in each other.
the rain beats against the window, but inside, itâs quiet, peaceful. your head rests against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, the sound soothing and familiar. âyouâre my favorite part of the storm,â he whispers, his voice soft and sincere. you look up at him, eyes catching the soft glow of the cafe lights. âand youâre mine.â the world outside is a blur, but here, in his arms, everything feels right. just you, him, and the rain. everything else fades away.

Comedic Relief
Summary: After overhearing teammates call you the "comic relief" and question your seriousness, you begin to doubt your place on the team despite being a genius in disguise. Bucky finds you spiraling in your lab, reminds you of your brilliance, and confesses how deeply he values and loves you. (Bucky Barnes x chaotic!reader)
Word Count: 1.4k+
A/N: Wanted something angsty. I also debated having them run away temporarily and having Bucky find them first, but I liked how this turned out in the end. Happy reading!!!
Main Masterlist | Earthâs Mightiest Headache Masterlist
You werenât supposed to hear it.
Honestly, you never meant to. You were crawling through the ceiling vent to test your portable gravity-altering boots as one does and accidentally dropped into the hallway by the training center. You didnât land gracefully. You bounced. Twice.
No one noticed.
You were about to make a dramatic entrance to demand âscientific respect and perhaps a sandwichâ when your name floated through the crack of the door.
âSheâs just⊠not serious,â One of the rookies was saying. âI know sheâs smart, obviously, but itâs like, can you trust her in a real op? Last week she got distracted mid-mission because she thought the enemy baseâs reactor looked âlike a sexy espresso machine.ââ
You could hear someone chuckle before another added, âYeah, and she asked Fury if âthermonuclearâ was a made-up word.â
You blinked. That was a joke. You knew what thermonuclear meant. Youâd accidentally built a thermonuclear coffee machine last year that tried to launch itself into low orbit. They made you name it and put it in a SHIELD containment box.
âHonestly, sheâs more of the comic relief, you know?â Another said. âLike, sheâs the team mascot. Not really part of the brain or someone you should trust.â
You werenât sure what part of you tensed first. Maybe it was your jaw, your spine, or your heart. It wasnât a new feeling. Not really. It was just louder this time. More final. Heavier.
Mascot.
The word stuck to you like wet concrete.
You backed away before you could hear any more of the conversation, suddenly hyperaware of every squeak of your boots and every stupid joke youâd ever made this week. The âavocado bombâ prank on Steve. The trivia challenge you crushed but then celebrated by pronouncing âColumbusâ as âCo-LUMB-us.â The marble run you built through the ventilation system that made the whole compound sound like a wind chime when it rained.
God. Was that all they saw?
You didnât go to dinner. You didnât reply in the group chat, even when Sam tagged you and asked why Bucky was sulking in the corner muttering âWhere is she?â like a pissed-off gargoyle.
You didnât even remember walking back to the lab. Your feet had carried you here on autopilot to your safe place, your mess, your cathedral of chaos and half-finished thoughts.
You locked the door behind you, not that anyone ever came in uninvited. Not unless Bucky had something to smuggle in for you (usually food or a weapon you werenât technically cleared to modify). Not unless Tony wanted to gawk at your entropy.
The lab lights flickered on automatically. You winced at the brightness.
You moved like a ghost, almost afraid to touch anything. Your hands hovered above your desk, your workbench, the tower of half-functional prototypes stacked like a junkyard Jenga tower. You didnât sit. You just stared at the avalanche of yourself. Your weird, brilliant, overwhelming mind spilled out across surfaces. Wires like spaghetti. Notes written in both formulae and doodles. Gel pens next to soldering irons. A circuit board shaped like a cat.
It all looked⊠childish. Stupid.
What were you even doing?
You finally collapsed into your chair, spinning once, twice, then fast enough that the corners of the room blurred. You kicked off the counter and made a loop around the floor, feet dragging. The motion didnât help. If anything, it amplified the static in your chest.
Mascot.
You blinked hard, squeezing your temples. âNo. No no no. Shut up. Weâre not doing this today.â
You spun to your desk. Grabbed a marker. Scrawled something on the board.
atomic weight of hydrogen: 1.00784 u. bananas are a lie. you donât need potassium that bad. you matter. you matter. you matter.
You stared at it for a long time. Then erased âyou matterâ so hard the whiteboard squeaked. Your hand kept going long after the words were gone. Until it hurt.
You stood. Paced a little more. Opened a drawer. Slammed it shut. You tugged at the sleeves of your hoodie, pacing faster now, muttering in a half joking, half begging, yet all unraveling way. âWho the hell builds a weather balloon to see if birds migrate better with Taylor Swift playing on a speaker? Who sets a toast-loving AI loose in the kitchen and calls it a âlearning momentâ when it sets off four smoke alarms?â
You knocked into your shelf, and something clattered. You didnât catch it. You didnât care.
You backed into your chair and sank again, hands braced on your knees like gravity got heavier just for you. Your eyes burned.
âTheyâre right,â You said quietly. âIâm a joke. A distraction. They keep me around because itâs easier than telling me to leave.â
Somewhere behind you, the electronic calendar chimed softly:
Reminder: Tell Bucky you love him. (He already knows, but say it anyway.)
Your throat closed up.
You covered your face with both hands and curled forward, trembling. The quiet buzz of your machines felt deafening. You had built this place, crafted it like a cocoon, a temple, a home. Now it felt like a parody of genius.
You didnât hear the knock at the door. Or the creak as it opened.
But you felt it when Bucky entered, his presence like a storm and a lighthouse all at once. Steady. Warm. Wordless.
He stood there for a moment. Watching. Taking in the wreckage. You hadnât noticed the tears on your face until he knelt in front of you and reached up, thumb brushing just below your eye. He didnât say anything right away. He just held you.
You werenât even sure when your body had folded into his. One moment, you were curled in on yourself, vibrating with self-loathing, and the next, your face was buried in the crook of his neck and his arms were wrapped around you like armor. Like he could physically keep the world out if he just held on tight enough.
You gripped the front of his henley like it was the only solid thing left. It smelled like coffee and the soap he never admitted to stealing from Steve.
âI thought you were joking when you said you could feel my breakdowns in your soul,â You whispered, voice raw.
âI can,â He murmured against your hair. âLike a bat signal but sadder.â
You let out a broken sound, half sob, half laugh.
His metal hand rubbed slow, careful circles on your back; warm from the adaptive heat plates he let you install. The other hand cradled your head like you were fragile, which only made the cracks inside you widen. He never looked at you like you were fragile. Not until now.
âThey think Iâm a joke,â You mumbled into his chest. âThey think Iâm just the team jester with a few fun facts and a death wish.â
âThatâs bullshit.â
âTheyâre not wrong.â
Bucky pulled back just enough to look at you, not with pity, but with fire.
âYou built a quantum drive in a toaster oven,â He said firmly. âYou hacked an alien translator using a flashlight and a Etch A Sketch. Youââ He huffed, voice breaking. âYou are the only reason half this team is alive.â
You stared at him, voice stuck in your throat.
âBut I make everything a joke.â
âBecause thatâs how you survive,â He said softly. âYou think I donât know what itâs like to be underestimated because people are more comfortable laughing at you than respecting you?â
You looked down. âI just⊠if I stop being funny, Iâm afraid theyâll stop wanting me around.â
Bucky reached up, cupping your cheek, thumb stroking beneath your eye.
âIf they canât handle all of you, not just the jokes and chaos and weird trivia, then they donât deserve you. But I can.â His voice was low, steady. âI love you. All of you. The ridiculous, the brilliant, the heartbreaking mess of you. You could set the tower on fire trying to build a better microwave and Iâd still think youâre the smartest person Iâve ever met.â
You blinked fast, and a soft smile tugged at your lips. âThat was one time.â
âTwice,â He corrected. âAnd the second time, you swore it was intentional to teach Tony humility.â
You let out a breathless laugh, and he smiled. That sweet, rare smile he only ever gave you like you were something secret and sacred.
âCâmere,â He said, pulling you in again, tighter this time.
You curled into his lap and let yourself stay there, finally still, finally quiet. His hands never stopped moving, thumb tracing your spine, fingers gently combing through your hair, grounding you with every touch.
And in that moment, you didnât feel like a mascot or a distraction.
You felt like someone loved and seen.
